Suncorp appoints chief risk officer, finalises executive team

Bank and insurance company Suncorp-Metway Ltd has appointed a chief risk officer, finalising its executive team under recently arrived chief executive Patrick Snowball.

Robert Stribling, who has worked in different areas of financial services risk management for over 30 years, was appointed chief risk officer, Brisbane-based Suncorp said in a statement on Monday.

“The global financial crisis has reinforced the importance of effective risk management frameworks underpinning the activities of all organisations, particularly financial services companies,” Mr Snowball said in the statement.

“Bob will be a vital member of my senior leadership team and will work closely with the chief executives of each of our businesses to ensure they continue to have appropriate risk management structures in place.”

Mr Stribling, who worked in the US, Europe and Asia, and with three of Australia’s big four banks, will begin at Suncorp early next year.
