TV show host says everyone should sell house in two months

It may be a tough time for property sales, but the host of Selling Houses Australia says they’ve had an 80 per cent success rate on the new series of the TV show.

The popular show about helping people sell their properties returns for its second series later this month with many success stories despite the shaky economic climate.

Host and property expert Andrew Winter says he’s helped sell 80 per cent of homes on the show.

Winter said he noticed people were more anxious than the last series.

The second series will give practical advice for people to sell their homes.

“I still believe that, if your house hasn’t gone in the first couple of months something is wrong, it could be as simple as you’ve chosen the wrong agent,” Winter said.

“It could be the way the house looks, or you could just be very overpriced.”

He said “despite all the doom and gloom” the lower end of the housing market was ticking along well.

“Where it’s being hit hard is at the top end of the market and the mid-range stuff, people that are being a bit greedy.”

Winter, the host of the original British series, has been in real estate for more than 20 years and believes Australia is faring well compared with the rest of the world with a general constant demand for property.

“Certainly in Australia we’re nowhere near as bad as other countries,” he said.

Selling Houses Australia was the most watched program on the Lifestyle Channel last year, and is expected to attract big numbers when it returns.

“People want to see what is going on,” he said.

Winter believes its success lies with its practical advice.

“It’s more factual and serious than other shows,” Winter says.

The second series will premiere on March 25 at 7.30pm.
